Random facts about songs
I love a random piece of useless information me. So Furnish me with your random facts about well known songs.

I also like finding out what songs you just hear and take for granted are actually about.

For instance:

Rich Girl by Hall and Oates was written about a bloke, but they thought 'Rich Girl' sounded better than 'Rich Guy'

Luka by Suzanne Vega is about Domestic Abuse

Coward of the County by Kenny Rogers is about Gang Rape

I shot the sheriff was a song about Birth Control (which Marley was against).

ZZ Top have one member without a beard - his surname is Beard.

Barry Manilow's hit 'I write the songs' wasn't written by him

There must be loads of well known and lesser known tid bits - tell be some of the ones you know/have heard.

Smoke on the Water was written when Deep Purple witnessed the intended venue for the recording of their next album burn to the ground during a concert by another artiste, that artiste was Frank Zappa.

The guitar solo in the middle of Michael Jackson's Beat It was by Eddie Van Halen.

Lynyrd Skynyrd got their name from one of their high school teachers - Leonard Skinner.

Led Zeppelin got their name after Keith Moon stated that they'd go down like a lead balloon.

Alex Lifeson from Rush was born Aleksandar Zivojinovic. He took the name Lifeson because Zivojinovic is Serbian for Son of Life.

Geddy Lee from Rush was born Gary Lee Weinrib to Jewish holocaust survivors. He took the name Geddy Lee from his mothers heavily accented pronunciation of his forenames.

The Rush track YYZ was named after the identification code for Toronto’s Pearson International Airport and in honour of returning home after touring abroad. Furthermore, the song’s intro riff is based on the Morse code 'dots and dashes' for YYZ.

Troy

further to that, George Michael wrote 'Wake me up before you go go' after Andrew Ridgley left a note on his bedside table in a hotel to remind him to wake Ridgley before he left.

In his scribbled note Ridgley accidently wrote 'go' twice
